Wind Orcacoke Island

The Outer Banks are not only known for the outstanding beaches but also for the wind that cross over the barrier islands. The wind isn't as constant as it is at Kitty Hawk but Oracoke is also blasted by gust of winds reach upwards of 40 mph. It feels like just like sticking your hand out the window of a car speeding down the road in the rain. As you can see here the whole beach is carpeted with a layer of wind blown sand.
